Shahnaz Akhtar

Abstract
Pakistan-USA relations hold greater importance. Since independence of Pakistan, USA and Pakistan have been cooperating with each other not only in the economic field but also politically, socially and diplomatically. USA has always assisted Pakistan in all these fields and has been one of the key allies in providing funds and support. There have been times of mistrust and suspicions as well but while analyzing the overall scenario one can clearly asses that Pakistan’ relationship with USA has been one of the significant features of Pakistan’s foreign policy. This study assesses the importance of this relationship and the hurdles which obstruct cooperation and progress in the Pakistan-USA relationship. Furthermore the dynamics of their relationship after 9/11 with prospects of good will and cooperation in future also form part of this study.
