Abstract
Over the last twodecades, there has been an increase in illegal migration by land and sea to destinations in southern Europe. This migration is made possible by a complex set of interlinkedfactors. These are the decision-making bodies (family, community, village, individual, etc.), the actors (smugglers, intermediaries, etc.) distributeddifferentlyaccording to the areas of migration (area of departure, transit and arrival). This article addresses the understanding of the clandestine migration phenomenon by deciphering and analyzingtheir respective roles in the clandestine migration process as well as the links maintainedthroughout the migration process. Who are they? Are they in relations of complementarity, competition or are theyradically ignorant of eachother? Clandestine migration, in itscurrentform, then has the virtue of bringingtogetherseveralactorswhowork to serve it. Wewillthusspeak of a Migration Industry.
